Case Study

Company Name: Ben & Co Construction Ltd

Industry: New Building Construction

Working with Airway Group

Airway were contacted in August 2023 by two local Cambridgeshire Building

companies regarding a full Mechanical package for Warboys Village Hall and
the proposed new building. They both knew we had extensive experience of
Mitsubishi VRF systems, Mitsubishi Lossnay Heat Recovery Ventilation along
with direct extract ventilation. In addition, we also provided a design and
install cost for the provision of an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) to provide both
Hot Water and a small amount of LTHW provision for general area radiators.

In 2024 that Ben & Co were awarded the building contract and works commenced alongside Sharman Grimwade Ltd who provided the full mechanical design.

What solutions or services did Airway Group provide to address these challenges?

Airway Group were tasked with many tactical changes on locations and there
was also a full new Ventilation scheme and the addition of a ASHP.

Why did you choose Airway Group over other providers?

Further to the Mechanical design any cost implications (increases) would cause
major issues for both Ben & Co and Warboys Town Council whose budget was
already up to the maximum. The design based on initial supplier costs was
showing an 8-10% increase on the existing budget. Airway & Ben & Co met up
to fully discuss budgets and our design and sale team started the negotiation
with five separate suppliers.

As we managed to lessen the 8-10% increase to just 3% both Ben & Co and the
council accepted and provided us with instructions to start works. First install
teams arrive on site on the 10th March 2025

Outcomes and Results

Site demonstration happened on Friday 12th September with the Parish Council taking occupancy on the 17th September. Site now has a fully operation heating
and cooling system for the offices, meeting rooms and split divide function
room provided by the Mitsubishi Electric VRF System. The whole building to
served with filtered and pre-heated (in winter months) air ventilation MVHR
System via LMF Clima HRH 40, with all extracted stale air passing across the
heat recovery coils of the AHU providing cost savings in winter months. All
kitchen, showers and WC’s have independent Elta Ceiling Extraction Fans to
remove excess heat/smells from the building.

All works were completed, tested and commissioned within the main
contractor Ben & Co’s timescales and all commissioning document submitted to
building control for practical completion date of 19th September 2025.

We now hope to work with Ben & Co on another local project with another
community centre in an adjacent village.
